چکیده

The phase-locked loop (PLL) propagation time is important unavoidable factor for high-speed coherent detection systems using broad-linewidth laser diodes. This paper report the linewidths requirements and the power penalties taking into account the loop propagation delay. The coherent optical receivers with PLL, based on Costas loop or decision driven loop (DDL) are taken into consideration. The expressions for phase error variance and receiver bit-error rate are determined the most precisely by now and these expressions are used in power penalty determining. Key-Words: Optical PSK Systems, High-speed transmission, Loop delay time, Performance analysis

10 Gbit/s 2-psk Transmission and Homodyne Coherent Detection Using Commercial Optical Components

We present a demonstration of coherent homodyne transmission using 2-PSK at 10Gbit/s, with commercial optical components, which leads to new compact integrated receivers and new transmission formats, thus opening new possibilities for future optical systems. Introduction In most telecommunication fields outside the optical scenario, transmission systems are based on coherent detection, i.e., on...

Performance of Optical Heterodyne PSK Systems with Costas Loop in Multichannel Environment for Nonlinear Second-Order PLL Model

Using the nonlinear second-order phase-locked loop (PLL) model the performance of the heterodyne coherent optical phase shift keying (PSK) systems with Costas loop in multichannel environment is considered in this paper for the first time. The shot noise of the corresponding photodiodes and adjacent channel interferences are described through the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the loop bandwidt...

PD Controller Design with H¥ Performance for Linear Systems with Input Delay

This paper presents H∞ control problem for input-delayed systems. A neutral system approach is considered to the design of PD controller for input delay systems in presence of uncertain time-invariant delay. Using this approach, the resulting closed-loop system turns into a specific time-delay system of neutral type. The significant specification of this neutral system is that its delayed coeff...

Constrained Controller Design for Real-time Delay Recovery in Metro Systems

This study is concerned with the real-time delay recovery problem in metro loop lines. Metro is the backbone of public transportation system in large cities. A discrete event model for traffic system of metro loop lines is derived and presented. Two effective automatic controllers, linear quadratic regulator (LQR) and model predictive controller (MPC), are used to recover train delays. A newly-...

Coherent Optical Communications: Historical Perspectives and Future Directions

Coherent optical fiber communications were studied extensively in the 1980s mainly because high sensitivity of coherent receivers could elongate the unrepeated transmission distance; however, their research and development have been interrupted for nearly 20 years behind the rapid progress in high-capacity wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) systems using erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs)...
